We all agree that a website design of any business is equally important as any other resource of the company especially when the source of revenue is largely dependent on the internet marketing strategies. Then why should we ignore the loading speed of a website which can really affect your online sales & revenue.

In this blog,we have shared 5 tips to improve the loading speed of a website.

Tip#1: Image Optimization

In most of the cases, the reason of slow download speed of a website is the size of images used on the website. We understand that using high-resolution images on a website is very important to attract the users and encourage them to buy products or services from the website. Therefore, using high-resolution images is not a bad idea at all;as long as your web designer has optimized them for their sizes. In other words,if you are facing the issue of loading speed on your website, you must check with your designer whether he has optimized the images using advanced tools like Adobe photoshop or he has simply resized the larger images into smaller size using HTML codes.Resizing the images using HTML codes is not a solution at all because the overall size of the images remain same.

Tip#2: Enable Compression

Any page which is more than 100KB is considered as a large page. The large pages take time to download as they are bulky. There is a technique called “compression” which you can enable on your website which will reduce the bandwidth of your webpages. This is not at all a complicated task. You can ask your web designer to do this job using Gzip. Most of the web servers could compress the files in Gzip format before sending them for downloading and most interesting thing is that majority of the  internet traffic comes through the modern browsers that support Gzip.So using this technique for improving the download speed of your website is very much possible.

Tip#3: CSS Delivery Method

CSS are the files which controls the style of your webpage and usually there are two ways to use CSS:external and inline. The external way of calling CSS is preferred one because it reduces the size of your codes and avoid the duplicity of styles whereas in case of inline CSS,it increases the size of your webpage by unnecessary repetition of same scripts and thereby increase the loading speed of a webpage. Therefore, you must check with your web designer whether they have used the external CSS or inline CSS.

Tip#4: Useless Plugins and Modules

Unnecessary usage of plugins &  modules on your website could also affect the loading speed of your website and therefore you must check out regularly if you have any plugin which is not being used anymore so that you can remove it from your website.

Tip#5: Minimize HTTP Requests

Studies has proved that most of the web page’s load time consumed by downloading of different parts of a webpage for eg. stylesheets, images, scripts etc. The more HTTP requests a webpage have, the slower would be the download speed. Therefore, its recommended that a website must use minimum HTTP requests which could be achieved by combining multiple CSS files, JS files or avoiding usage of inline scripts.
